The SBCUSD Sustainable League of Combat Robotics (SLCR) provides students with an exciting opportunity to design, build, test, and compete with custom 3D-printed combat robots. More than just building robots, SLCR develops essential 21st-century skills including engineering design, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, perseverance, and innovation.
Open to all SBCUSD middle schools, the league offers a fun, safe, and inclusive environment where students represent their schools while applying the engineering design process to create competitive, sustainable combat robots. Guided by trained teacher-coaches, students participate in regular practices, county SLCR competitions, and district robotics tournaments while maintaining high expectations for academics, teamwork, safety, and gracious professionalism.
Through the SBCUSD Sustainable League of Combat Robotics, students gain valuable hands-on experiences that prepare them for high school robotics programs, future careers in engineering, manufacturing, design, and technology, while fostering a lifelong passion for innovation and STEAM.
